Standardized Test Scores

LVCHS students perform well on standardized tests!

SAT scores (07-08) – 58% (49/85) of our 11th & 12th grade students took the SAT this year, and our average is 39 points higher than the national average (see chart below).

SAT Categories      Critical Reading    Math Writing TOTAL

National Average (07-08)     502             515     494      1511

PA Average (07-08)              494             501     483      1478

LVCHS Average (07-08)      520             528     529      1577

LVCHS Highest (07-08)       700              730    760       2190

SAT scores are standardized and range from 200 to 800 in each category, with 500 being the pre-set average. Scores of 600 or above are considered very good. We are particularly proud of Brittany Castle, who received LVCHS’ highest score in all 3 categories this year (as well as highest overall score, obviously)! Her score was tied by Steve Green in Reading and by Mark Lomastro in Math. Overall, 4% (2/49) of our students who took the SAT scored well below average, 39% (19/49) were below average, 47% (23/49) were above average, 10% (5/49) were well above average.

Stanford scores (07-08) All of our 9th, 10th and 12th grade students took the Stanford test, with the exception of our ESL students. Our students performed better than 69% to 78% of students nationwide (each grade level compared separately). When compared with ACSI Christian schools only, we did better than 49% to 61% of those students. On the Bible Assessment our students who were rated as average or above average ranged from 87% to 96%, depending on the grade level.

PSSA scores (07-08) – In all areas (Writing, Math, Reading) our students performed above the state average. We had 86% of our students at the Proficient level (or higher) in Writing, 63% in Math, and 81% in Reading. We are also proud to announce that we had a higher percentage of our students in the Advanced level than ever before in Reading (51%) and Writing (16%), and the second highest amount ever in Math (28%).

AP scores (07-08) – AP scores range from one (low) to five (high), with a three being considered good enough to earn college credit at most colleges. Of the 23 students who took 28 tests we earned 3 ones, 9 twos, 11 threes, 4 fours and 1 five. (see chart below) Special recognition to Chris Lunger who earned a 5 on the English Literature test – this is the highest score possible! All 16 students who earned a 3 or better are eligible to receive college credit for the courses they completed at LVCHS this year! Congratulations!
